Innovative Housing

Wednesday 24th February 2010

Trinity Housing is building 24 assisted living units, which will cater for frail, elderly people and dementia sufferers at Bridge Street Downpatrick.

The multi-million pound scheme commenced when Minister For Social Development Margaret Ritchie cut the first sod on Friday 12th February.  Minister Ritchie was joined by Trinity Housing Chairman, Bill Reilly and Chief Executive, Arthur Canning, South Down MP, Eddie McGrady, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust Chief Executive, Hugh McCaughey and the Trust's Chairman Colm McKenna.

Mr Canning stated "I am ecstatic that at long last work on the new scheme is under way in Downpatrick to provide a much needed facility for the elderly and cutting the first sod is a positive step on the road to the completion of this 2.5 million building.  We view this supported housing scheme as a model for others to follow with the building featuring the latest technology."
